Habbo Hotel founder and former colleague, Aapo Kyrölä approached us at the eleventh hour and asked if we could proofread his PhD thesis before he submitted it. An interesting project, partly because of the subject matter – computer science – and partly because Aapo was writing in his third language (he’s Finnish). Not to fault his English though, he’s very good, but there were some tough calls to make. Store to disk? Store to the disk? Missing articles aplenty and some complicated subject matter to try to understand in order to check grammar and syntax. Short deadline too, naturally.
